Gun Recovered After Roxbury ShootingAbout 2:08pm yesterday a detail officer heard several gunshots in the area of 29 St. James Street. Further investigation revealed that two groups of young males had exchanged gunfire while walking on St James Street. Both groups ran upon the arrival of the officers. Officers also responded to a person shot in front of nearby Madison Park School. This victim was suffering from an apparent superficial wound to his right side. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 9mm handgun was recovered on the roof of a garage in the area of the shooting. Probably Not the Best Place to Go A 48-year-old Roxbury man, Lawrence Lovett, apparently couldn’t wait any longer to relieve himself. A District 2 officer was sitting in his marked police cruiser outside 2181 Washington Street and was informed by a passerby that a man was relieving himself directly behind the police car. The officer exited the car and observed Lovett doing his business directly behind the car. Needless to say, Lovett was arrested for open and gross Lewdness. New York Fugitive Arrested in Boston At about 4:30pm yesterday, a District 11 officer stopped a car driving erratically on Morrissey Blvd. at Freeport Street. A check of the driver’s license revealed him to be wanted in New York City for Felony Narcotic charges. 28-year-old Enrique Santiago of Roxbury was arrested and is expected to be turned over to New York authorities.
