ARREST MADE IN DORCHESTER HOMICIDE

Acting Police Commissioner Albert Goslin and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley are announcing that Boston Police arrested a 26-year-old Dorchester man and charged him with the murder of Jaziel Ponce, who died last month after sustaining injuries in a Westwind Road apartment building.Danny Santana, 26, of Dorchester was apprehended this afternoon at 965 Blue Hill Avenue, by members of the Youth Violence Strike Force after homicide detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest in connection with Jaziel Ponce’s June 26th homicide. Evidence developed in the course of an ongoing investigation by the homicide units of the Boston Police Department and Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office suggests that Jaziel Ponce died as the result of blunt force trauma. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. Santana will be arraigned Monday in the Dorchester division of the Boston Municipal Court Department on a single count of murder.
