Suspects Arrested After Stabbing on Central Street

This morning at about 2:36am officers from District 1 responded to a radio call for a fight in the area of 177 State Street. On arrival officers discovered a 23-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds at 83 Central Street. Boston EMS responded and transported the victim to the Massachusetts General Hospital where he was treated for his serious injuries.Officers began interviewing witnesses at the scene and discovered the incident started when three victims were walking on Central Street by McKinley Square carrying red sox shirts and a cell phone. These three victims reported that they observed three males charging in their direction. One of the three victims stated he was knocked to the ground and punched in the head, while the suspects demanded his cell phone. Leaving the cell phone and shirts on the ground, the victims fled the area. The suspect (Vitkovich) continued to chase the victims while armed with a knife as they ran to the front door of Jose’ McIntyre’s located at 160 Milk Street. The three victims banged on the door and were allowed inside the bar after telling employees they were jumped and the suspect was chasing them. According to a witness on scene, the employees of 160 Milk Street exited the rear door of the bar located at 83 Central Street and observed the three suspects, one armed with a knife at the rear door. The three suspects then attacked a 23-year-old male, two of the suspects holding the victim to the ground (Fischer and Romolo) while a third suspect (Vitkovich) stabbed the victim multiple times. All three suspects: Shane Vitkovich, 26, of Roxbury, John Romolo, 31, of Dedham, and Christopher Fischer, 29, of Somerville were placed under arrest and will be arraigned on Tuesday morning at the Boston Municipal Court where they will be charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife), Assault and Battery (injuries), and Intent to Rob while Armed. Fischer was also wanted on warrants from various courts on the north shore.
