DAILY INCIDENTS FOR OCTOBER 16,2006

Breaking and Entering Suspect ApprehendedYesterday at approximately 10pm officers from District 4 responded to 290 Shawmut Ave. for a breaking and entering in progress. On arrival, officers spoke to a witness who gave officers a description of the suspect whom he had observed climb up a ladder to the fire escape, and pull up a screen in order to enter the dwelling. The suspect fled when the witness yelled at him. A description of the suspect was broadcast and officers detained an individual matching the suspect at the intersection of Ringold St. and Hanson St. The detained individual was positively identified and placed under arrest. The suspect, Sean P. McGovern, 33, of Milton, was arrested and charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering of a Residence. Cash and Drugs Recovered During Traffic Stop Officers from District 3, today at 1:33am, conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle at Blue Hill Ave. and Johnston Rd. During the traffic stop, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and asked the driver if there was any more marijuana in the car. The driver initially denied any more marijuana but later admitted to having more marijuana. Further investigation by officers after recovering the admitted marijuana resulted in larger quantities of marijuana being found in the car. The passenger of the car continued to make furtive movements during the stop and was removed from the car. After being removed from the car, the passenger was also found to be in possession of a large amount of marijuana and cash. Officers, after placing both suspects under arrest, recovered a large amount of drugs believed to be cocaine in suspects’ car and on their person. Officers seized the drugs and recovered almost $1,800.00 in cash from the suspects. Both suspects, Josette Coombs, 21, of Dorchester and Chancellor V. Young, 20, of Bridgewater, were arrested and charged Trafficking Cocaine/Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana/Class D, Possession Class D, Possession of Class B. In addition, operator of the motor vehicle will be charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License. Three Stabbing Victims Transported to Hospital Today, around 3:05am officers from District 18 responded to the area of River St. and Hyde Park Ave. for a fight. On arrival, the victim reported to officers that he had been tied up and assaulted with a gun. The victim thereafter directed officers to 9 Webster St. where the incident took place. Outside that location, another victim approached officers and reported that the suspects along with another victim were still in the house. Officers quickly entered the house and searched the house unsuccessfully for the suspects but did locate a third victim in the house. The victims reported to officers that they were exiting a car in the driveway when two suspects approached them, put guns to their head, and forced them inside the house. Inside the residence, the victims stated the suspects assaulted them and stabbed them. The victims were all transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
