DAILY INCIDENTS FOR OCTOBER 21, 2006

OUI Suspect Arrested After Hitting Light PoleOfficers from District 7, yesterday around 11:43pm, arrested suspect, Wbeimar Medina, 37, of Revere, and charged him with Operating Under the Influence: Liquor. Officers responded to a call for a motor vehicle accident at 75 Waldemar Ave. and there, observed a motor vehicle that had front end damage from having hit a light pole. Officers approached the driver who was still in the car and immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was asked to exit the car and almost fell exiting the car. The operator was observed to be unsteady on his feet, have glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unable to perform any of the field sobriety tests administered. As a result of the above noted the operator was arrested. Shoe Fetish Yesterday around 12:50pm a male subject was observed browsing the women’s shoe section at the Filene’s Basement located at 426 Washington St. The suspect was next observed to pick a pair of women’s shoes, place them in a bag and exit the store. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the district station after becoming unruly and combative when approached by store security. The suspect, Matthew T. Mello, 32, of Quincy, was placed under arrest and charged with Shoplifting. Officer Assaulted While Breaking Up Fight Today at approximately 1:30am, a Boston Police officer performing a paid detail observed two individuals fighting on Chatham St. The officer attempted to intervene and beak up the fight when he was struck in the face by one of the two combatants. The suspect fled from the scene immediately after hitting the officer. The suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect, Robert S. Mitza, 26, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Affray.
