Message from the Police Commissioner

A message from Commissioner Albert Goslin to the members of the Boston Police Department:

Yesterday afternoon Mayor Thomas M. Menino introduced incoming Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis to the Boston Police Command Staff. Commissioner Davis is currently serving as Superintendent of the Lowell (MA) Police Department. He will be named the 40th Police Commissioner for the City of Boston. Following the meeting with Command Staff, the Mayor made the formal announcement at City Hall that Commissioner Davis would officially assume the Police Commissioner’s position in early December. I hope that as many of you see our new Commissioner in the weeks and months to come, that you welcome him to this Department. I have spoken to the new Commissioner many times, and I can assure you he is well aware of the BPD’s rich history, our successes, and its members’ deep desire to improve public safety in Boston. I know that you will continue to give your best, as you continue to serve with professionalism, integrity, compassion and great pride in this Department. With the appointment of Commissioner Davis, I will again assume the rank of Superintendent In Chief. In that capacity, I look forward to working with Commissioner Davis in the months ahead as he works with our members in moving the Department forward. I have greatly enjoyed my time serving as Acting Police Commissioner and look forward to seeing each of you in the Districts, on the street and in many of the offices throughout the Department. Thank you. Albert E. Goslin Acting Police Commissioner
