DAILY INCIDENTS FOR NOVEMBER 2, 2006

Firearm Recovered Pursuant to Shots Fired CallAt approximately 5:16am yesterday, officers from District 2 responded to 26 Sojourner Truth Court in Roxbury for shots fired. On arrival officers observed an individual who fled when officers attempted to speak to him. Based on the nature of the call and the overall circumstances officers pursued this individual, eventually catching him after a lengthy pursuit. Officers tracked the path that the individual had taken and recovered a firearm and some drugs believed to be crack cocaine in the location he was last observed before being apprehended. In addition to the firearm, officers recovered a hat and a cell phone that the suspect claimed as belonging to him. The suspect, Derrick D. Burton, 19, of Roxbury, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Class B, and Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute. Victim of Shots Fired Uninjured About 4:25pm yesterday, officers from District 3 responded to 15 Kerwin St. in Dorchester for a report of a person shot. On arrival, officers located the caller who reported that he was not shot, but rather that his car had been shot at while he was in it. The victim stated while he was parking his car an unknown motor vehicle pulled up beside him and fired 5-6 shots at him. Ballistic damage was observed to victim’s motor vehicle and ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene. Victim suffered a slight laceration to the neck but did not need to be transported to the hospital. Stabbing Victim Transported to Hospital in Stable Condition Yesterday around 9:39pm, officers from District 18 responded to 7 Easton Avenue in Hyde Park for a report of a person stabbed. On arrival, officers spoke to a witness who reported hearing the victim screaming for help, and then locating the victim suffering from a stab wound in the street. The victim was transported to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in stable condition. The victim reported to officers that he was walking on Easton Avenue when two black males in a black sedan exited their car, walked up to him and stabbed him. According to the victim, he does not know the suspects nor does he know why he was stabbed. The suspects fled after stabbing the victim and they remain at large.
