Armed Home Invasion at 394 RiverwayLast night around 9:10pm, officers in District 2 responded to a radio call for an armed home invasion at 394 Riverway. On arrival officers spoke with the victim who stated he was in a back room of the apartment with a friend when they heard a loud bang at the door. The victim stated after the loud bang 3 individuals rushed through the front door shutting off the lights. Both victims stated that one of the suspects demanded money. The victim went on to state the one of the suspects grabbed him and pushed him out of the back room and yelled, “do you have money”. At that time the victim stated he was hit on the forehead by an unknown object possibly a handgun. The suspects took unknown amount of cash and the victim’s cell phones before fleeing the scene. The victim refused medical attention. Woman driving stolen vehicle arrested At around 1:15 am today, District 18 officers observed a vehicle stopping several car lengths from the intersection of Cummins Highway and American Legion Highway. Officers ran the motor vehicle plate and it came back as a stolen vehicle out of Dorchester. Officers conducted a traffic stop on American Legion Highway. The operator, later identified as Leverne Taylor, 37, of Quincy, was argumentative with officers and refused to step out of the vehicle, and began making calls to unknown persons on her cell phone. She stated that she had a knife. Officers tried to negotiate with Ms. Taylor, and advised that they would have to forcibly remove her from her vehicle if she did not comply with their commands. Ms. Taylor lit a cigarette and continued making phone calls to unknown persons. Officers removed Ms. Taylor from her vehicle and placed her under arrest. A search of Ms. Taylor and the stolen vehicle yielded no weapons or contraband. Ms. Taylor was later found to have many aliases including a warrant for a probation violation. She is being charged with receiving stolen property. Short thief still at large This morning at about 2:09 am, District 14 officers responded to a call to Oak Square of an armed robbery taking place. Upon arrival, various units searched the area for the suspect, described as a black or possibly Asian male, about 5’2” to 5’4”. Officers interviewed the victim who stated he was walking to 16 Tremont St. when he was approached from behind and accosted by a short male who said “Hey! Your money!” The victim turned and saw that the suspect was brandishing a large black handgun. The victim complied with the demand, and after handing over a small amount of cash and a lottery ticket, the suspect said to him, “This is it?” and then fled on foot west on Tremont St. Officers continued to search the area to no avail. Man steals car, stopped for not using headlights At approximately 2:09 am today, District 7 officers observed a vehicle driving southbound on Chelsea St. without its headlights on. Police conducted a traffic stop and upon approaching the vehicle observed that the operator was extremely nervous. Police asked for the driver’s license and registration, and were provided with a Washington State license and a Massachusetts registration. A query of the license number revealed no such license. A radio call then came in of a vehicle just being stolen on Bennington St. The officers informed dispatch that they had that vehicle and a suspect matching that description stopped. They were then approached by the victim, who walked the one block from the bar he had been at, to the place where the stop was initiated. The victim then pointed to the suspect and identified him as the person who took his keys from the bar and ran out the front door. The keys were taken out of the ignition by the officers and were also identified by the victim as being his. The victim was adamant in stating that he had not given the suspect permission to use the vehicle. The suspect, Omar Alberto Gaviria Agudelo, 34, of East Boston was placed under arrest and transported to District 7 for booking. He is being charged with Operating a motor vehicle without being License, and Using a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
