Stolen Car Recovered with Bartered GoodsOfficers from District D-4 (South End) yesterday arrested suspect, Lawrence Poncia, 52, of Boston and charged him with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of Class B, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License, and Possession of Burglarious Tools. At about 5:54pm yesterday, officers in the area of Albany St. and East Berkeley St. conducted a random query of car that revealed that the car was stolen. A traffic stop was conducted on east Berkeley St. where the driver was asked for his license and registration. The suspect /operator responded that he had no license and that the car did not belong to him. The suspect was placed under arrest, and during an inventory search of the vehicle officers observed crack cocaine on the front passenger seat along with some burglarious tools. The suspect, en route to the district station for booking, stated that he had purchased the car from someone for $20. Loaded Firearm Recovered During “Routine Traffic Stop” At approximately 10:08pm last night, Wednesday, April 4, 2007, officers from District B-2/Roxbury arrested suspect, Keith Woods, 18, of Roxbury and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm. Officers, monitoring traffic in the area of George St. and Langdon St., initially observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a posted stop sign and further observed the car to have defective equipment in the form of a broken taillight. Officers followed the car and conducted a traffic stop in front of 434 Dudley St. in Roxbury. There, officers requested of the driver his license and registration. During the traffic stop, the officer on the passenger side noticed that the suspect kept reaching toward his right waistband despite repeated orders to keep his hands on the dashboard. Officers, during suspect’s continued movement, observed what appeared to be the handle of a firearm. Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers removed the suspect from the car. The suspect, after being removed from the car, was subsequently confirmed to be in possession of a fully loaded firearm. Drop the Body! About 10:15pm last night, officers from District D-4 (South End) on patrol in the Cathedral Housing complex, observed an individual accompanied by three others carrying an unconscious individual who appeared to be mortally wounded. Officers identified themselves at which time the person carrying the unconscious individual dropped the body. Officers ordered everyone to show their hands, but one the individuals refused to comply and did not show his hands. Further investigation revealed that the individual who had failed to show his hands had a bag of marijuana in his hand. Suspect, Adidas Mastin, 17, of Boston, was arrested and charged Possession of Class D. The unconscious person was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was found to be unconscious from over-consumption of alcohol. Overnight Accommodations Granted to Wild Reveler This morning around 1:40am, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were monitoring the Breezeway Bar at closing time, when they observed a disturbance. Officers made closer observation of the disturbance, and noted that there was an individual attempting to attack another person. Club security personnel made several attempts to separate the two but one individual repeatedly ignored orders to walk away and repeatedly sought to attack another person leaving the bar. Officers escorted the aggressive individual from the scene, and directed him to go home after making note that he had a strong odor of alcohol about him. The “wild reveler” refused continuous orders to leave and started tapping officers on the chest and yelling obscenities at the gathering crowd and officers. Suspect, Purcy Brice, 30, of Malden was then arrested and charged with Disturbing the Peace.
