Prior to arrival, officers were informed (via the police radio) that the suspects were seen running into a nearby building at 30 Bower Street. Officers entered the apartment and ordered the suspect to, “Drop the Gun .. Drop the Gun!” However, instead of dropping the gun, the suspect ran up the stairs of the residence. As the officer gave chase, the suspect finally did drop the weapon. Officers recovered a silver-colored firearm. Officers then arrested Niko Richardson, 17, of Mattapan, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Loaded Firearm. TWO GUNS LEADS TO SIX ARRESTS At about 2:00am, on Saturday, April 7, 2007, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to radio call for shots fired at 102 Moreland Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers observed a black motor vehicle driving away from the scene. Officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & siren) in an effort to stop the motor vehicle. Once outside the car, Jonathan Edwards, 23, of Mattapan, was arrested and charged with Failing to Stop for a Police Officer. While officers were in the process of arresting Edwards, the front seat passenger began (Edwin Rutledge) reaching towards his waist area. After a pat frisk of Rutledge, officers discovered and recovered a silver-colored handgun. Officers then arrested Edwin Rutledge, 28, of Dorchester, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Officers then asked the remaining 4 occupants to exit the car. Once the motor vehicle was empty, officers conducted a search of the motor vehicle. As a result of the search, officers discovered a second handgun. Officers then arrested Sharonda Johnson, 19, of Roxbury, Shawn Reddick, 26, of Brockton, Sheila Evans, 19, of Hyde Park and Joy Willis, 20, of Roslindale, and charged all with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Loaded Firearm.
