Two Firearms Recovered During Search Warrant

This morning around 5:45am, members from the District B-2 Drug Control Unit, members of the Entry Team, Fugitive and Apprehension Unit and members of the United States Marshall executed a search warrant at 52 Stanwood Street.Officers announced several times that they had a search warrant. After receiving no answer from within the residence, the Boston Police Entry Team breached the front door. At that time, the suspect attempted to run out the back door, where he found additional members of the Entry Team. The suspect then attempted to close the door on the officers, but they successfully entered the residence. Upon entry, officers observed a .357 revolver on the floor by the back door. Jermaine Thomas, 31, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1000ft of a School Zone. Mattie Smith, 31, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1000ft of a School Zone. Also arrested was James Ferriter, 24, of Roxbury on outstanding warrants for Violation of Existing Restraining Order. Officers also recovered a second firearm, a .45 cal high point semi-automatic. Officers recovered nine plastic bags of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a box of plastic bags, one plastic bag of marijuana and ammunition.
