At about 2:56pm, on Thursday, September 27, 2007, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) and Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to radio call for a person shot at 14 Hyde Park Avenue. That individual, suffering from a gunshot wound, was transported to the Boston Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. While on scene, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed a gold-colored motor vehicle pull up next to the victim’s vehicle. Witnesses then told officers that they observed individuals inside the suspect’s vehicle fire several shots into the victim’s vehicle. At this point, the suspects fled the scene. Officers immediately broadcast a description of the suspect’s motor vehicle over Channel 4 of the police radio. Additional witnesses told officers that they observed the motor vehicle come to a stop on Woodland Street. At which point, the suspects were seen discarding an object and, then, running in the direction of the Forest Hills Cemetery. Officers later recovered a firearm in the area the suspects were seen dropping the object. A short time later, officers located two individuals, matching the descriptions of the suspects, entering a car on the other side of the Forest Hills Cemetery. After the suspects were positively identified, officers arrested a 15 year-old male from Dorchester and Karl Baxter, 18, of Dorchester and charged both with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition. Officers also arrested Andre Givens, 19, of Mattapan and charged him with being an Accessory After the Fact and Operating After Revocation & Suspension.
