Officers On-Site Incident and Quickly Apprehend Suspect Today Boston Police located and apprehended the suspect responsible for a shooting and an armed robbery that occurred this morning at Stalex Pizza in Dorchester. On Thursday, November 1, 2007 at approximately 9:30am officers on-sited an incident of a person shot at Norfolk Street and Woodrow Ave. in Dorchester. At that location, a 45 year-old male victim was observed suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition with a life-threatening wound. According to investigators, the suspect entered Stalex Pizza and committed an armed robbery. The suspect fled after stealing $60.00. The victim, who was working at the restaurant at the time of the incident, chased the suspect out of the establishment. At that time, the suspect fired several shots striking and critically wounding the victim. Boston Police officers Tamara Finley and Andrew Heggie, while on routine patrol, witnessed a person down at 140 Norfolk Street and immediately thereafter witnessed a male fleeing the scene toward Woodrow Ave. Officers Finley and Heggie broadcast suspect description. Additional responding officers Jahad Hasan and Michael Sullivan responded and ultimately apprehended the suspect in a backyard on Woodrow Ave. In addition, Officer Heggie recovered the discarded firearm. Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “On behalf of the Boston Police Department, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family during this difficult time. This is an example of senseless gun violence and there is no excuse. We have a suspect in custody thanks to the remarkable work of several officers who exhibited courage and perseverance in their confrontation and successful pursuit of the suspect quickly after this tragic incident. We will work closely with Suffolk County prosecutors to demand the most severe sanctions for this outrageous act.” Boston Police arrested Gary Johnson, 18, of Dorchester. Johnson is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Discharged Within 500ft. of a Dwelling and Armed Robbery. Johnson is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at Dorchester District Court.
