On Thursday, November 1, 2007 at approximately 9:30am officers on-sited an incident of a person shot at Norfolk Street and Woodrow Ave. in Dorchester. At that location, 45 year-old Mimin Manavoglu of Brockton was observed suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with a life-threatening wound. At approximately 6pm yesterday evening, he was pronounced.According to investigators, a suspect entered Stalex Pizza and committed an armed robbery. The suspect fled after stealing $60.00. The victim, who was working at the restaurant at the time of the incident, chased the suspect out of the establishment. At that time, the suspect fired several shots striking and critically wounding the victim. Boston Police arrested Gary Johnson, 18, of Dorchester. Johnson is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Discharged Within 500ft. of a Dwelling and Armed Robbery. Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “On behalf of the Boston Police Department, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family during this difficult time. This is an example of senseless gun violence and there is no excuse. We have a suspect in custody thanks to the remarkable work of several officers who exhibited courage and perseverance in their confrontation and successful pursuit of the suspect quickly after this tragic incident. We will work closely with Suffolk County prosecutors to demand the most severe sanctions for this outrageous act.”
