ROCK THROWERS ARRESTED IN SOUTH BOSTONAt about 10:23 pm, on Thursday, April 17, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a group of kids throwing rocks at cars in the area of East Cottage Street. On arrival, officers spoke to a victim who stated that he observed four suspects throwing rocks at his car. Upon looking at the victim’s car, officers observed dents and scratches on the front hood. The victim states he, then, watched the suspects run towards the MBTA Commuter Rail stop located at Dudley and Alexander Streets. When officers entered the ‘T’ station, officers observed four individuals run to the other end of the platform. After being positively identified by the victim, officers arrested Oliver Martin, 17, of Roxbury, a 16 year-old male from Dorchester, a 15 year-old male from Roxbury and a 14 year-old from Roxbury and charged all four with Assault & Battery With a Dangerous Weapon (Rocks), Destruction of Personal Property and Throwing Objects on to a Public Way. NEIGHBORHOOD DRUG UNIT ARRESTS ONE IN ROXBURY At about 6:00pm, on Thursday, April 18, 2008, members of the Area B-2 Neighborhood Drug Unit executed a search warrant in the area of 93 Burrell Street. Upon entering the location, officers located the individual they were looking for. Upon locating the suspect, officers asked him if there were any weapons inside the location. To which, the suspect stated, “I have a gun behind the counter .. but .. it’s not mine.” Officers observed and seized a firearm (Smith and Wesson .38 caliber) with a black handle. When the suspect was unable to provide a valid license to carry, officers arrested Grover Long, 45, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition. A search of the location also enabled officers to locate and seize several crack pipes, marijuana pipes, a small digital scale and an undisclosed amount of marijuana. As a result of the additional discoveries, Mr. Long was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs (marijuana) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. CONFIRMED SHOOTING AT 375 OLD COLONY AVENUE At about 4:00am, on Friday, April 18, 2008, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 375 Old Colony Avenue in South Boston. On arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. Both victims (one an 18 year-old black male, the other a 23 year-old black male) were transported to the Boston Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.
