POLICE ARREST SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH STABBING INCIDENT AT LOEWS MOVIE THEATERAt about 11:35pm, on Saturday, February 14, 2009, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person or persons stabbed at 175 Tremont Street (Loews Movie Theater). On arrival, officers located two victims suffering from what appeared to be minor stab wounds. Both victims were transported to the New England Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. According to the victims, they were standing inside the lobby of the Loews Movie Theater when a black male, in his late teens with braids, approached them and slashed them. While still on scene, officers learned or were told that a 3rd victim, a black male, had self-applied to the New England Medical Center with a stab wound or laceration to his hand. Officers responded to the hospital and located the 3rd victim. In short time, officers noted that the victim resembled the suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing. Witnesses were then transported to the hospital. With witnesses on scene, several positively identified the suspect. Officers arrested Sylvester Cooper, 18, of Boston and charged him with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
