Man Arrested For Firing Weapon On City StreetOn Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at approximately 2:05pm, Officers assigned to Area B-3 (Mattapan), responded to the area of Babson Street @ Fremont Street for a report of multiple gun shots. Upon arrival in the area, Officers located an elderly male victim hiding behind his vehicle with an apparent bullet hole through the windshield. Officers were able to locate a witness to the incident who informed them that a confrontation between two groups of youths occurred at the intersection of Fremont Street and Babson Street. The witness went on to state that the two groups exchanged gunfire before fleeing the area. The witness was able to give a description of the suspects and their route of travel. Officers were able to locate ballistic evidence in the general area that the witness stated the incident took place. A broadcast of the suspects was given and numerous units converged on the area. Shortly thereafter, two individuals fitting the description given were spotted in a yard on Rockway Street. Officers confronted the two and learned they did not live at this residence or have any legal right to be on the property. One of the suspects was positively identified as the shooter by one of the witnesses. At this time, both parties were placed into custody on the charge of trespassing. Both parties were then transported to B-3 (Mattapan) for processing. During booking, an amount of marijuana and Eight (8) bags of crack cocaine were seized from one of the defendants. Officers arrested Dennis Levy, 22, of Boston on the charges of Trespassing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm on a Public Way, Discharging a Firearm Within 500 feet of a Dwelling House, Possession of a Class B Substance (crack cocaine) With the Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Class D Substance (Marijuana – civil violation issued). Also arrested, Dwayne Marcus Leaston-Brown, 19, of Boston on the charges of Trespassing.
