Man Jumps Counter at Mt. Washington Bank and Steals Money…Leads Officers on Foot Pursuit.On Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at approximately 3:02pm, Officers assigned to Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain), responded to the Mt. Washington Savings Bank (515 Centre Street), for a report of a hold-up alarm. Officers arrived on-scene and spoke with bank personnel who informed them that they were just robbed. They described the suspect as a black male, thin build, wearing a blue t-shirt, black baseball hat and a thin build. They went on to state that he entered the bank and approached one of the tellers and handed her paper currency and requested to exchange it for a quantity of coins. The teller agreed and opened up her money draw in order to conduct the transaction. Once the draw was open, the suspect jumped up on the counter and reached into the draw. The suspect was able to grab a substantial amount of United States Currency from the draw before fleeing the bank. The suspect was last seen running on Centre Street towards Jackson Square by bank employees. Officers immediately set up a perimeter of the general area in order to locate the fleeing suspect. Within short time, Officers observed a black male fitting the description running through the Bromley-Heath housing development. It was also noted that the suspect was holding something in front of him that was believed to be the stolen money. Officers gave chase through the housing development and observed the suspect to discard the contents of his hands into a dumpster as he passed by. The suspect then continued running and continued to refuse the officers orders to stop. The suspect was then apprehended in the area of 31 Heath Street. A positive identification of the suspect was conducted by bank employees and he was placed into custody. Officers returned to the dumpster and located a large amount of money that was learned to be the money stolen from the Mt. Washington Bank. The Bank Robbery Task Force, E-13 (J.P.) detectives and the FBI will be conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. Officers arrested Royal Benjamin Jr, 48, of Boston on the charges of Unarmed Bank Robbery. Woman Arrested After Stabbing Boyfriend Multiple Times On Thursday, June 18, 2009, at approximately 12:24am, officers assigned to Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to 9 Ruggles Street, apartment #5 for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. Officers arrived on-scene and were greeted by a black male covered in blood. This individual informed officers that he was just stabbed by his girlfriend. Officers immediately inquired as to her whereabouts and were informed that she was still inside. Officers made entry into the apartment and located a black female within one of the bedrooms. They also noticed blood on the floor and walls. A black & silver kitchen style knife was also observed on the floor next to the female. The victim identified her as his girlfriend and the person who had stabbed him. Officers then placed the female into custody. Boston EMS was called to the scene and treated the victim for multiple non-life threatening stab wounds. He was then transported to Boston Medical Center. Officers arrested Jacqueline Flowers, 38 of Boston on the charges of Assault With Intent To Murder and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
