NBA Finals Ticket Forgery Suspect Arrested

Last night around 8:30PM, officers and detectives from District D-4 (South End) arrested suspect, Edward S. Lopez, 42, of Whittier, CA and charged him with Fraud-Larceny by Scheme.

Officers arrested the suspect based on an initial report filed on last night around 6:30PM by a victim who had purchased the NBA Finals tickets from the suspect after seeing an advertisement on Craig’s List online posting.  The victim after paying $1400.00 for the tickets then noticed that the tickets were counterfeit after comparing them to other tickets she had in her possession.

Officers then took the tickets to the TD garden and through conversation with a Boston Celtic employee confirmed that the tickets were indeed counterfeit. Based on that information, detectives then had the victim re-contact the suspect for more tickets. Contact was reinitiated with the suspect who agreed to meet with the victim at 40 Dalton Street. The suspect showed up and was positively identified by the victim as the person who had sold her the counterfeit tickets. The suspect again produced three more tickets to sell at which time detectives approached the suspect.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the above offense at that time. It was discovered during the transport to the district station that the suspect was also in possession of a fake California license. The suspect will be arraigned on Monday, 6/14/10 at Boston Municipal Court.
