The Boston Police Department is actively seeking the cooperation of community members in relation to the shooting incident that occurred in the area of 40 Woolson Street in Mattapan last night. The incident is actively being investigated by the Boston Police Homicide Unit who urges any members of the community to contact them at (617) 343-4470 with any and all information relative to this fatal shooting incident. Again we urge individuals to contact the Homicide Unit with information. This morning around 1:12AM, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the area of 40 Woolson Street for a ShotSpotter activation followed up by several calls to 911 for shots fired.
On arrival officers located five victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Three victims (an adult female and two adult males) were pronounced at the scene while two others (an adult male and a male toddler) were transported to area hospitals suffering life threatening injuries. The toddler was pronounced a short time after arriving at the hospital and the adult male remains in critical condition at the Beth Israel Hospital.
The Boston Police will be dispatching additional police officers to the area. The CrimeStoppers Unit was deployed to distribute Text-a-Tip brochures. Streetworkers and other city services will be concentrated in the neighborhood.
In the wake of this horrendous, senseless event, city and community leaders have dedicated themselves to seeing that those responsible for this tragic and sad incident are brought to justice. Mayor Menino asserted the following in response to this incident: “To those who have no respect for life and would commit this brutal act, ours streets are not your battlegrounds, our kids cannot be your collateral damage.” Commissioner Davis expressed the following sentiment, “This senseless loss of lives has shocked even the most hardened detectives. The community has responded valiantly by calling in tips to the police department. We are doing everything humanely possible to catch the perpetrators of this inhumane act and will not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice.” District Attorney Dan Conley in response to this incident stated, "Police, prosecutors, criminalists, victim advocates, and support personnel are bringing every conceivable resource to bear on the case. We will not rest until the facts are known and justice is done. We’re imploring the public to join us and share whatever they might know, whatever they might have seen or heard, with investigators."

We are only concerned with what you know not who you are! As a community we cannot and should not stand by and allow senseless acts like this to take place. Investigators are continuing to seek information on a gray or silver Ford Explorer which may have been involved in this incident.
