At about 10:05pm, on Monday, September 20, 2010, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for an abandoned infant in the area of 445 Saratoga Street in East Boston.  On arrival, officers located an infant in an alley between 443 and 445 Saratoga Streets. According to those who found the infant, they heard what sounded like a baby crying in the alley. Upon hearing the crying, the witnesses say they exited their home to further investigate the matter. Once outside, witnesses say they located a male infant lying on the ground. The baby, in good condition, was transported to Mass General Hospital for further evaluation.

About an hour and a half later at 11:30pm, officers located the mother of the abandoned child. The mother was transported to Mass General Hospital for evaluation.

After a thorough and exhaustive investigation, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for the infant’s mother, 18 year old Eva Flores of East Boston. Today investigators took Eva Flores into custody charging her with Reckless Endangerment of a Child and Assault & Battery on a Child under 14 with Injuries.

Flores is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in East Boston District Court.
