Detectives Stop Assault and Robbery of Victim

Last night, Friday, October 15, 2010 around 7:16PM, two detectives from District C-11 (Dorchester) were traveling in the 1900 block of Dorchester Ave. in an unmarked car when they observed three males in front of the Wainwright Bank. Officers observed that one male was punching one in the face while the other was attempting to pull a backpack off of the apparent victim’s back.

The detectives quickly exited their car and approached the apparent suspects and the victim. Both suspects attempted to flee but one was caught almost immediately and the other was able to temporarily flee from the scene pursued by the detective. Additional units responded to the scene and assisted in the capture of the second suspect in the rear yard of a house on a nearby street.

Officers then spoke to the victim who reported that he had been waiting for a ride at Ashmont Station and when his ride arrived and he was making his way to his rid, he was jumped by the suspects. According to the victim, one of the suspects started to punch him while the other suspect pulled his cell phone from his hand and attempted to pull his backpack from his back. Officers observed the victim to have some bruises and red marks on his face from the assault but did not require medical attention.

The suspects, Lovell Stewart, 17 of Dorchester and a 13-year-old male from Roxbury were arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery.
