The St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place yesterday, Sunday, March 20th in South Boston. A tremendous amount of work by members of the Department and other city agencies and community groups went into planning logistics for the parade and issues affecting public safety.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my personal thanks and appreciation to the members of the Boston Police Department who planned for this special event.  The Department’s Operational Plan was extremely well executed.

From patrol to investigations, to intelligence to specialized units, it took a collaborative approach to manage this event so successfully.

I would like to thank all of our personnel who were assigned to the parade and walked alongside for miles, those assigned to neighboring areas, those who manned the command center, and to those members who addressed public safety concerns and managed the large crowds.   Overall, it was remarkable work by everyone involved, who ensured for a peaceful event for those who enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day Parade festivities.  It was a great day for families and for the community.

Your efforts made a significant difference to the safety and success of parade.  Thank you.
