Police Catch Two Breaking Into Cars in Dorchester

About 2:20am, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for two males breaking into a purple Honda in the area of 28 Dyer Street. On arrival, officers located two males standing next to a purple Honda Civic. On approach, officers observed the suspects attempting to enter the car using an unidentified object. Upon seeing the approaching officers, both suspects dropped the object, later identified as a coat hanger, and took off on foot in an effort to avoid capture. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspects. In their efforts to flee the area, the suspects dropped a backpack. A search of the backpack enabled officers to take possession of a hammer and a pair of pliers.  Officers arrested and charged two 16 year-old males from Boston with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle (Night).
