Boston Police Homicide Detectives Arrest Suspect in Recent Fatal Mass Ave Stabbing

Today, on Thursday, May 19, 2011, Boston Police Homicide detectives located the suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing death of Andrew Wyman, 29, of Boston. Detectives sought and secured an arrest warrant in the name of Darryl Mitchell charging him with Murder. The 24 year-old Mitchell turned himself in and will be arraigned on Murder charges tomorrow (May 20, 2011) in Boston Municipal Court.  

At about 8:24am, on Sunday, May 15, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person stabbed at 794 Massachusetts Ave. On arrival, officers located the victim, a white male in his late twenties, suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim was later identified as Andrew Wyman.

As a result of a cooperative and collaborative effort which included extensive contributions from both Area D-4 detectives and officers, as well as members of the Northeastern University Police, the Boston Police Homicide Unit was able to affect today’s arrest.
