Quick Response Derails Car Theft Suspect

This morning around 12:46AM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the Tedeschi’s parking lot at 1420 Dorchester Ave. for a car that had just been stolen from the parking lot. On arrival, officers found out that the victim had left his car running while he ran into the store and as he was coming out, he observed a black male wearing a multi-colored jacket get in his car and head down Dorchester Avenue. A description of the car and the suspect was broadcast to units.

A short while after the incident was broadcast, officers on patrol observed the car being operated on Dorchester Ave. toward Columbia Road. Officers followed the suspect motor vehicle with lights and sirens and eventually the car pulled over on Southampton St. by Massachusetts Avenue.  Once the car was stopped, officers ordered the suspect out of the car. The victim was transported to the scene where he positively identified the suspect.

The suspect, Dashaun Johnson, 28 of Brockton was arrested and charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License.
