What a night for Boston Red Sox Fans and the Boston Police Department! The BPD is proud and pleased that the Red Sox are the 2013 World Series Champions. We are equally proud of the way the men and women of the Department stepped up to keep fans safe during a major, large scale, international sporting event. With all eyes on Boston, the city and the Department shined. - Tens of thousands of fans celebrated victory responsibly.
Boston has some of the best fans in the world, with their cooperation; the Boston Police Department was able to keep everyone safe. As with any large scale event, a handful of fans did become overly exuberant and unruly resulting in 8 arrests. No one was seriously injured.
Prior to this year’s event, the Boston Police, in collaboration with our law enforcement partners and several city agencies, worked diligently to draw up and implement a proactive plan with preventative measures designed to ensure a safe and trouble free environment for all those attending the world series games. Our thanks to all participants for helping to make World Series Game Six a huge success. A special thanks to all of the members of the BPD who worked tirelessly and showed we are all Boston Proud!
