Boston Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Stolen Cruiser

At about 3:26am, on Saturday, October 5, 2013 officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a call for breaking and entering of a motor vehicle at 97 Baxter Street. 

Upon arrival officers observed a black male fitting the description of the suspect.   After an extensive foot chase, the suspect stole the police cruiser parked at the scene.  The suspect struck one officer and attempted to strike several other officers during his escape.   Due to the imminent danger, at least one officer discharged multiple rounds from his service firearm. 

 After a motor vehicle pursuit and a second foot chase the suspect was apprehended and the police vehicle was recovered.   Two officers were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  The suspect was not injured.  

Wilfredo Rodriguez, 37, of South Boston was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Night. Rodriquez is expected to be appear in South Boston Court on Monday.
