At about 3:50 AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a Crime in Progress in the area of 28 Glenrose St., Dorchester.
On arrival, officers spoke to a witness who stated that he had observed a light skin male described as wearing a black North Face jacket with a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans, to be trying to open car handles in the area. The witness stated that he had followed the suspect to the area of Mallet St., and observed him entering a vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the interior lights to be illuminated and the contents of the glove compartment to be strewn about.
Upon further investigation, officers located the male suspect who had been lying in the back seat of another motor vehicle, covered in a black fleece blanket. The suspect stated that the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend who had permitted him to sleep in it. The suspect had been wearing a black North Face jacket with a black hooded sweat shirt and jeans, which fit the earlier description of the witness. The suspect is known to officers in for breaking and entering of motor vehicles in the area.
The suspect was positively identified by the witness.
Police arrested a 31 year old Asian male of Dorchester. The suspect is charged with Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle.
