Boston Police Arrest Male Attempting to Break Into Back Bay Residence

At about 11:34am, on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 123 Marlborough Street, Back Bay. Officers were advised by operations that the suspect was climbing up to the second floor window to break into the building.

On arrival, officers observed the suspect matching the description that was broadcasted exiting the building through the front door.  Officers spoke with the suspect who reported he was in the building visiting a friend.  Officers observed the suspect sweating profusely while speaking with officers.

Officers spoke with witnesses who observed the suspect attempting to open a first floor window and then climbed up the front of the building.  The suspect was observed by witnesses opening the second floor window and entering the apartment building. Witness also reported the suspect used the front door (which was propped open) to aid in climbing the building.

Witness positively identified the suspect while officers were conducting their investigation.

The male suspect, James Chiocchio, 28, of Quincy, was arrested for Breaking & Entering and is expected to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court today.
