Boston Police Arrest Two Suspects and Recover Three Firearms after a Person Shot in Roxbury

 

At 7:52 PM, on Friday, June 28, 2013 officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of Fort and Highland Avenues.

Boston Police Operations broadcasted a description of a motor vehicle that fled from the area. As the officers canvassed the area, they observed a motor vehicle matching the description on Wakullah Street. Officers also observed a black male suspect #1, without a shirt, running towards Dale Street. As the officers approached, suspect #1 turned and ran through several residential yards on Wakullah Street. After a foot pursuit through the yards and over a fence Suspect #1 was apprehended.

Additional officers observed a second black male suspect, in a full sprint, grabbing his waist area with a 1st Armor Protection Service Special Officer in foot pursuit. Suspect #2 was able to make entry into the rear door of 76 Rockland Street, which locked after entry was made. While officers secured the perimeter of building and evacuated the residences for safety, Boston Police Operations broadcasted, a person was shot at 8 Fenno Street, less than one block away. The male victim was transported to Boston Medical Center life threatening injuries.

During the search, officers observed that there was access to the basement of 74 Rockland Street. Officers evacuated the adjoined building as well and continued the search. Boston Police K-9 unit was able to locate Suspect #2 hiding in a small crawl space in the basement of 74 Rockland Street.

During the search of 76 Rockland Street, two firearms were recovered. A Ruger SR9 semi-auto pistol and 16 rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the rear of 6 Hestia Park.

Suspect #1- Daquadry Norman, 21, of Boston, is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Firearm Discharged within 500 ft. of a Dwelling, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Suspect #2 – Tabari Muhammad, 21, of Roxbury, is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Firearm Discharged within 500 ft. of a Dwelling, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Suspects are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on July 1, 2013.
