Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation in the area of 371 Old Colony Avenue, South Boston.

 

At about 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, officers from district C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a drug investigation in the area of Mary Ellen McCormack Developments Old Colony Avenue, South Boston.

Upon arrival officers observed a male suspect matching the description given. As officers approached, and announced their presence, the suspect fled and officers pursued. The suspect began shooting at officers who returned fire. The suspect was shot and transported with life threatening injuries to Tufts Medical Center. Officers were also transported to area hospitals for further evaluation.

Police recovered a firearm from the suspect along with assorted narcotics.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.
