Off-Duty New York New Jersey Port Authority Police Officer Nabs Purse-snatcher in Allston

 

At about 8:17AM, Tuesday, August 6th 2013, officers from district D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a Robbery in Progress in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Linden Streets Allston

On arrival, officers were directed to the rear of 1200 Commonwealth Ave parking lot for a male suspect being held for a purse snatch. Officers could hear the suspect screaming “let me go get off me”. A New York New Jersey Port Authority Police Officer and a male witness were holding down the violent suspect on the ground.

The victim stated that she was sitting at an outside table with the witness, when the suspect grabbed her purse and ran down the alley way. The witness gave chase. The victim yelled “he stole my purse”.

A New York New Jersey Port Authority Police Officer who was exiting the restaurant also gave chase with the witness down the alley and into the rear parking lot. As they chased the suspect, he tripped and fell. The off-duty officer and witness were able to retain the suspect till Boston Police arrival. Victim recovered all her property.

Joseph Mrozinski, 46 of Boston was charged with Unarmed Robbery.

He was arraigned in Brighton District Court.
