Boston Police Seeking Motor Vehicle in Connection with Southampton Street Attempted Abduction

Boston Police Detectives are asking community members to pay special attention to the vehicle that the suspect was operating yesterday, Thursday, September 19, 2013 in the area of Southampton Street and Atkinson Street and anyone with information please contact the District C-6 detectives at (617) 343-4742.

Community Alert: Police Seek Information in Afternoon Attempted Abduction 

At about, 1:30pm, on Thursday, September 19, 2013 officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call to assist a citizen at Transit Police Headquarters, 240 Southampton Street, Boston. 

On arrival, officers spoke with the female victim who stated a light skinned, Hispanic male, clean shaven, wearing a white t-shirt attempted to abduct her at the intersection of Southampton and Atkinson Streets. 

The victim stated she was walking on Southampton Street, when a small white vehicle (possibly a van) with a missing passenger seat, stopped next to her. At that point, according to the victim, the operator reached over to the passenger side and asked her if she needed a ride. The victim told the suspect she was all set. The victim stated to officers, the suspect insisted she take the ride, lunged over and grabbed the victim by the head/neck and attempted to pull her inside the vehicle. The victim stated that she struggled and threw a cup of soda in the suspect’s face. The suspect then threw dirt , that was inside the vehicle, in the victim’s face. The suspect fled the area. The victim declined medical attention.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call District C-6 (South Boston) detectives at 617-343-4742.
