Early Afternoon Bank Robbery Lands Two Behind Bars

At about 11:42am, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a hold up alarm at Citizen’s Bank, 1355 Washington Street, South End.

On arrival, officers spoke with bank employees, who reported an unknown black male, medium complexion, 5’9” to 6’, 180lbs, wearing a black North Face hooded sweatshirt, a dark blue jacket, blue jeans and wearing light blue gloves entered the bank.  The employee stated to officers the unknown male pushed a customer from the front of the teller's window and threw a crumpled up napkin and stated, "Read this." The employee stated to officers the suspect further stated, "Don't give me the dye pack.”  The bank employee complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of United States Currency.  The suspect fled from the bank in the direction of Waltham Street. BPD broadcasted the suspect's description. 

Officers in the area of Tremont Street near Waltham Street observed a white motor vehicle travelling outbound on Tremont Street.  Officers observed the rear seat passenger slouching down in an attempt to conceal himself from officers.  Officers in the area of Tremont Street at Dartmouth Street observed the motor vehicle inching through the intersection, against the red light and blocking the crosswalk. Officers conducted a traffic stop to prevent a pursuit. 

The suspect in the rear passenger seat was identified as the suspect who robbed the bank.

The male suspect, Avree Evans, 37, of Cambridge, was arrested for Unarmed Robbery and Possession of Class D.  The operator of the motor vehicle, Liquarry Jefferson, 33, of Roxbury, was arrested for Operating After Suspension.  Both suspects will be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court, on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
