At about 10:44 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2014, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an Assault and Battery in Progress in the area of 180 Canal Street in the Downtown area.
On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that he had been beaten and robbed by four unknown males who had taken his cellphone and his wallet.
A description of the four male suspects was broadcast, and two officers who were performing a paid detail in the area of Causeway Street observed four individuals matching the description. While speaking to the male suspects, a detail officer observed one of the males attempting to pass a wallet off to an unknown female who had been passing by, the detail officer intervened and in doing so, the identification of the victim fell out of the wallet.
All four individuals were positively identified.
Arrested was Laurence Drumgold, 51, of Malden, William Bianchino, 48, of Dorchester, Adam Sorgman, 41, of Boston, and Gregory Brimage, 51, of Boston. All are charged with Unarmed Robbery.
