Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Police Arrest One and Recover a Firearm in the area of Gurney St. and Tremont St.

 

At about 1:54 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2014, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol in the area of Gurney Street and Tremont Street in Roxbury, a location known for recent reports of B&E’s and other crimes.

While on patrol, officers observed two individuals acting suspiciously while walking in the area of Gurney St.  As officers monitored the individuals, they observed the taller of the two motion furtively in such a way as if to suggest he may be in possession of a firearm. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect moved behind a motor vehicle and appeared to drop an object which made a sound similar to a metallic object striking the pavement. A search of the area in and around the motor vehicle enabled officers to locate a firearm. As officers questioned the individuals regarding a license to carry, one of the individuals began struggling with police in attempt to flee the area. Following the brief struggle, officers placed the individual under arrest.

Arrested was Shaveus Turner, 20, of Roxbury. Turner is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
