At the 3rd Annual Gentlemen's Gym Night at the Fights, a youth boxing exhibition featuring youngsters from the Gentlemen's Gym and other area boxing clubs held this evening (01-25-2014) at American Legion Post #76 in Jamaica Plain, Police Officer Danny Long was the man of the hour as he was recognized as the evening’s Guest of Honor. Long, a former pro fighter who retired from the boxing game with a record of 30-and-8 (including 14 by knock-out), can be found these days working as Boston Police Officer assigned to District A-7 in East Boston. Long, who has spent a considerable amount of his career motivating and mentoring young people, is considered one of the best Youth Service Officers in the city. Said Commissioner William Evans, “The Boston Police Department is fortunate to have officers like Danny Long.” In the enclosed photo, Danny (on the right) is seen with fellow former pro boxer Kevin McBride – yes, the same Kevin McBride who beat Mike Tyson back via 6th round TKO in 2005 – and Danny’s grandson Liam.  Job well done Danny!!!
