At about 6:52 PM, Monday, January 27, 2014, while on patrol, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Citywide) made an onsite arrest in the area of 21 Clarkwood Street in Mattapan,

While on patrol, officers observed an illegally parked motor vehicle blocking a driveway with numerous individuals obstructing the sidewalk in the area. As officers approached the illegally parked vehicle, the individuals became increasingly agitated and began to verbally confront the officers. Officers engaged the operator of the vehicle and asked the individual for the proper identification, to which the individual could not provide. The operator claimed that he was licensed in the state of South Carolina, but that he was not in possession of the license. The name that was provided yielded no license to operate a vehicle in Massachusetts. Officers placed the individual under arrest. It was revealed that the vehicle operator had documents with the name Dane Mitchell on it, a query was conducted, which yielded the operator’s license to come back as suspended.

As officers removed the passenger from the vehicle, they were able to locate a loaded firearm under the passenger’s seat. The passenger was placed under arrest.

Arrested was Dane Mitchell, 22, of Mattapan and Kirk Parks, 23 of Dorchester. Mitchell is charged with Operating after Revocation or Suspension while Parks is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
