Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of a Gun in the area of 65 Wayland St.

 

At about 10:43 AM, Monday, January 27, 2014, while on patrol, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Citywide) made an onsite arrest in the area of 65 Wayland Street in Roxbury.

While on patrol, officers received information regarding the occupants of a vehicle to be in possession of a firearm. Officers observed the vehicle in the area of Quincy St. and Howard Ave. Officers stopped the vehicle and attempted to conduct an investigatory stop.  As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a black male to be lying down in the back seat of the vehicle. At this time, the vehicle fled down Howard Ave. Following a brief pursuit, officers located the vehicle in the area of 65 Wayland St. Officers were able to secure both passengers of the vehicle, as the driver fled on foot. During a brief foot chase, officers lost sight of the operator in the area of Hartford St. Officers canvassed the area of the suspect’s vehicle and were able to recover a firearm.
