Boston Police Arrest Male for Brandishing Knife in East Boston

At about 11:50pm, on Saturday, January 4, 2014, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife in the area of 259 Bennington Street.

On arrival, officers observed a large crowd gathered in the intersection of Prescott Street and Chelsea Street.  Officers overheard witness report the suspect had a knife and was walking away. Officers observed the suspect as he fled towards the direction of Putnam Street.  A brief foot chase ensued and the suspect fled into a building on Chelsea Street.

Officers located the suspect and observed a knife in the suspects hand and another knife protruding from the suspect’s jacket pocket.  

The male suspect, Javier Reyes, 25, of East Boston, was arrested for Disorderly Person, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon in Public (Knife), and Carrying a Knife in Public in Excess of 2.5 inches.
