Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest Three and Recover Illegal Narcotics in Dorchester

 

At about 10:20 AM on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made three onsite arrests and recovered a large amount of illegal narcotics in the area of 308 Bowdoin Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of the above location, officers observed a motor vehicle cross over the double lines veering into oncoming traffic. At this time, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights and sirens) in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop, but eventually fled the area. Officers immediately pursued the vehicle. During the pursuit, the passenger of the vehicle put him arm out the window and discarded a large red bag in the area of 42 Fox Street in Dorchester, the vehicle came to a stop shortly after and all occupants were placed under arrest. The red bag was secured by assisting officers. Officers were able to recover the following:

  • Approximately 180 grams of heroin
  • Approximately 137 grams of cocaine
  • Over $2,000.00 in US Currency

Officers arrested 27-year-old Dearron Cureton of Dorchester, 33-year-old Russell Hankerson of Roxbury, and 35-year-old Edward Strong of Roxbury.  All are charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs, Trafficking Class A within 500 ft. of a School Zone, Trafficking Class B Drugs, Trafficking Class B within 500 ft. of a School Zone, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws. Strong faces additional charges of Failure to Stop for a Police Officer and Operating after Suspension.
