One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One and Recover Illegal Firearm in Dorchester

At about 4:30 PM on Thursday, October 30, 2014, members of the Drug Control Unit made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of Boyden Street and Woodrow Ave in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of the above location due to recent incidents of drug related activity, officers’ attention was drawn to a gold vehicle which had completed a drug transaction with two female individuals. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of 25 Castlegate Road in Roxbury. When officers inquired as to where the two individuals had been, they were both untruthful, stating they had been walking their dog. The male occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a backpack which was recovered within the car. Inside of the backpack, officers were able to recover a black Ruger SR40 firearm loaded with ten live rounds of ammunition as well as illegal narcotics. Officers arrested 36-year-old Bruce Brown Jr. of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Numbers, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, and Armed Career Criminal.
