Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving a Police Vehicle Lands One Behind Bars - At about 2:32am, on Saturday, November 15, 2014, a Boston Police Detective, travelling in an unmarked police cruiser, was struck in the rear quarter panel by another vehicle making an unsafe lane change in the area of Blue Hill Ave and Charlotte Street. After being struck, the detective activated his vehicle’s emergency equipment (lights & siren) in an attempt to stop the other vehicle. However, upon seeing the lights and sirens, instead of stopping, the suspect attempted to flee scene by driving the wrong way down a one way street. A short time later, the vehicle was forced to come to a stop after getting caught up in traffic in the area of Bicknell Street. With the vehicle stopped, officers learned that the operator of the vehicle was operating the vehicle, which was a rental car, without permission. Officers arrested Clifford Alma, 34, of Boston and charged him with Leaving the Scene of Accident, Refusing to Stop for a Police Officer and Operating a Vehicle without Authority.
