Catch of the Day: Victims and Police Detain Suspect After B&E on Houseboat in Charlestown

 

At about 3:30 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 officers from District A-15 (Charlestown) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 28 Constitution Road in Charlestown.

On arrival, officers observed two individuals attempting to hold down a white male in the area of the above location. As officers approached, the victim stated that the suspect had stolen his possessions and broke into his boat. Officers detained the male and proceeded to speak to the victim. The female victim stated that when she arrived at the boat, she noticed that it had been broken into and that there had been property damage. At this time, she immediately called the owner of the boat, the male victim, who returned as well. Upon arriving, the victims observed a white male attempting to flee the area while in possession of the female victim’s back pack and other possessions. The victims gave chase and were able to catch up to the suspect and detain him until police arrived. All of the victims’ possessions were safely returned.

Officers arrested 43-year-old David Couto of Dorchester and charged him with Breaking and Entering of a Dwelling/Boat, Receiving Stolen Goods, and Possession of Class C Drugs.
