One Less Gun: School Police Arrest a Juvenile for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in Brighton

 

At about 2:15 PM, on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, officers from District D-14 (Brighton) responded to a call for police assistance at 20 Warren Street (Boston Green Academy).  Upon arrival, officers observed a male student who was detained in handcuffs by School Police Officers.  School Police Officers were had received information stating that the student was suspected of carrying a firearm in the school building.  After being brought into the office to conduct an administrative search, the student became extremely violent and began fighting with the School Police Officer. During the altercation, the suspect bit the School Police Officer on his arm.  After the student was subdued, a search of the suspect enabled School Police Officers to discover and recover a loaded Iver Johnson revolver in the student’s waistband. The School Police Officer was taken to an area hospital and treated for his injuries and later released. 

A 17 year-old male student was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession Ammunition, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer with injuries, Disturbing a Public Assembly and Resisting Arrest.
