At about 12:39 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, officer from District C-11(Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a home invasion in progress at 18 Lincoln Street, Dorchester.
Officers happened to be extremely close to the call location and arrived on scene approximately twenty seconds after being dispatched. One officer remained at the front of the residence (where the door was locked), and another officer went to the rear (where the door was also locked). Just as officers set up in the rear of the residence, a black male, who officers immediately recognized, exited the back door. As he exited the rear door, officer ordered for him to get down onto the ground. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect put his hands in his jacket pockets, immediately turned around, and ran back into the house. Officers pursued the suspect onto the rear porch, but the suspect slammed the rear door (which automatically locked) behind him. Just after the door slammed shut, officer heard a loud "clank," from inside the house, which was consistent with something heavy hitting the ground. Officers also could hear the suspect running through the house toward the front. Upon opening the front door, the suspect was greeted by additional officers who were standing by at the front of the residence. Officers entered through the unlocked front door in pursuit of the suspect. Once inside officers observed two other males, an Asian male and a black male sitting in chairs in the front living room. Officers secured the suspect they chased through the apartment, as well as the two individuals in the front room. As officers handcuffed the suspects they observed a surgical mask as well as a crowbar on the chair and a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson firearm on the kitchen floor.
During a search of the residence officers located four male victims, all in their late teens and early twenties, hiding in the basement. Officers spoke with one victim who reported he was sleep in his bedroom and woke up to a light skinned black male with tattoos pointing a firearm at his face and demanded he open the combination lock on the safe. Victim #2 stated he heard a lot of noise that sounded like furniture being moved around and he looked out of his bedroom door and observed three males in victim# 1’s bedroom, threatening him and his girlfriend with weapons and demanding marijuana. Victim #2 stated that at that point he called the police.
Officers arrested Danny Austin, 28, of Roxbury and charged him with Armed Career Criminal Level 1, Home Invasion, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Receiving Stolen Property Over $250. Both suspects, Thanh Nguyen, 41, of Boston and Allen Beauvais, 23, of Sharon were charged with Home Invasion.
