Making a Difference: Lotta Fun Had by All at the BPD Challenger Basketball Game at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester

Making a Difference: Special thanks to all of the officers who participated in today’s BPD Challenger Basketball game at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester on 35 Deer Street. Smiles were in high supply as a team of BPD officers took to the floor to take on a team of some really wonderful kids from the Challenger program in a game of hoops. The BPD Challenger program was created by Officer Michelle Maffeo with the goal of creating opportunities and activities where cops and kids could come together and get to know each other. And today, that goal was met and then some. Special thanks to all the officers who turned out for the game and – in the process – made our department proud. Said Commissioner Evans: “The men and women of the Boston Police Department understand their role and the mission of our department. Our mission is community policing which involves building relationships and showing people how much we care. And today, my officers did just that and I commend them for their efforts.”
