One Less Gun: Two Suspects Arrested and an Illegal Firearm Recovered after Motor Vehicle Stop in Roxbury

At about 1:39 AM, on Monday, December 23, 2014, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a motor vehicle pulled over to the right side of the road at the intersection of Norfolk Avenue & Marshfield Street. While approaching the vehicle, officers observed and recognized the operator of the vehicle and recalled, from past experiences with the operator, that he was in possession of an expired Massachusetts Driver's License.  As a result, officers stopped and approached the vehicle in an effort to further investigate their suspicions. While talking to the operator, officers observed two paper shooting targets with visible bullet holes lying on the back seat of the car. None of the occupants were able to produce a License to Carry a Firearm. Fearing the presence of a weapon, officers removed the occupants from the vehicle. After conducting a search of the rear passenger, officers discovered a small black firearm (described as a Sundance Industries A-25 semi automatic) and a small plastic bag containing a white powder believed to be cocaine.

Adriano Lima, 22, of Roxbury was placed under arrest for Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Possession of Class B (Cocaine).

The operator of the car, Andre Barbosa, 23, of Roxbury was placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle on an Expired License.
