Daily Dose of Great Police Work: ‘A Christmas Rescue’ Officers Pull Two Men from Dorchester Bay after Their Kayaks Overturned


At about 1:55 PM on December 25, 2014, officers from the Harbor Patrol and District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for two persons in the water at the Dorchester Bay, in the vicinity of the Columbia Road Yacht Club.

On arrival officers observed two kayaks overturned and floating without any persons near them. Harbor Unit Officers were directed by officers on land to two victims clinging to a mooring ball approximately 150 yards off M Street Beach. Officers were able to pull them into the boat. The two male victims ages 52 and 49, were taken to Berth 10 and met by EMS to be transported to Massachusetts Hospital and treated for hypothermia.  Both victims are expected to make a full recovery thanks to the quick actions and response of the Harbor Patrol Unit.
